Categories in Workleap LMS enable you to structure your course directory with various filters, simplifying course searches for users.
Create a course category
Navigate to the categorization interface:
Open LMS and go to Content > Categorization to access your organization's category structure.
Add a new category:
Select New category in the top right corner.
Enter category details:
Provide the necessary information for the new category.
To make this category mandatory for all courses, enable Select required.
To allow multiple categories for a course, enable Allow multiple categories.
Select Save.
Create subcategories:
Select Subcategory to add a subcategory to serve as a filter in the course directory.
E.g., for a main category like Difficulty, subcategories could be specific levels such as Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Edit or delete categories (if needed):
To modify or remove categories, select the pencil icon next to the desired category, then update the settings or select Delete to delete the category.
To modify or remove subcategories, select the three-dot icon next to the desired subcategory, then select Edit or Delete.
Note: Custom categories are automatically given the following the default filters:
Language (if multiple languages are used)
Course type: In-person or Online
Assign a category to a Course
Navigate to Content > Manage courses.
Select the course you want to categorize.
In the course editor, select the Categorization tab.
Select the desired categories and subcategories to assign them to the course.
If multiple subcategories are allowed, use the dropdown menu to add them.
Select Save.
Note: An asterisk (*) indicates mandatory categories; you must assign at least one value to save or publish the course.
