Can I use dynamic structure without a user provisioning integration?
Yes. Dynamic structure works without an HRIS user provisioning integration. You can build structures using bulk provisioning or manually assigned properties.
However, an HRIS integration makes your dynamic structure more adaptable. It keeps structures up to date automatically as your organization changes.
What happens to the teams I already have?
Nothing changes unless you choose to map them to your dynamic structure.
During setup, you can map existing teams. This connects them to the new structure, automatically keeps them up to date, and preserves their data history.
If you don’t map them, they stay as-is and are skipped during automation.
If my existing team is connected to a parent or child team, what will happen if I map it to dynamic structure?
The previous relationships are removed and replaced by the relationships you set up in your dynamic structure. You can preview all structural changes in Workleap before making them live.
How do I make manual updates to my dynamic teams?
Since dynamic teams update based on your selected property values, you can "fix" errors in your structure by updating your users' properties. You can do this via HRIS integration, bulk provisioning, or per individual user (Settings > Users > Details).
Can I have multiple teams with the same name?
Yes. Team names do not need to be unique.
Dynamic structure uses the properties you select (such as Division, Department, and Team name) to create and identify teams. For example, you could have several teams named “Marketing” in different departments.
What happens when the organization changes in the HRIS?
If you have an active user provisioning integration, dynamic structure automatically updates the structure to reflect changes in your HRIS.
That includes:
New departments.
Updated team names.
Manager reassignments.
No manual updates are needed to keep Workleap up to date.
Why are some employees or managers showing up in the “wrong” team?
This usually happens because of incorrect property values, such as being tagged to the wrong department.
Other causes include:
Fallback logic from the HRIS.
Missing or inaccurate Direct Manager fields.
Use the preview interface to confirm how data will be applied before finalizing your structure. If you do end up with mistakes, just return to the dynamic structure page and edit your structure as needed.
Can I preview before committing changes?
Yes. The preview interface shows exactly what will happen, including:
What teams will be created.
Which employees will be in each team.
Who will manage each team.
No updates are made in Workleap until an Administrator clicks Save and apply.
Can I automate just part of my org structure?
Partially. You can automate across levels. For example:
Automatically build Divisions and Departments.
Manage Teams manually.
However, you cannot automate only part of a level (such as a single Division) unless it uses a separate property. Dynamic structure applies rules across your full dataset based on the properties you select.
Do I have to pick between dynamic, role-based, and manual teams?
No. All team types can be used together.
Dynamic structure is simply another option. Administrators can mix and match team types based on what works best for different parts of their organization.
