Pay Zones are geographic groupings that determine how employees are paid based on their work location.
In Workleap Compensation, you must assign each Job Location to a Pay Zone to properly map employees to salary ranges. To get started, go to Configuration in the navigation menu, then click the Pay Zones tab.
Create a Pay Zone
To create a new Pay Zone:
Click Add New.
Enter a unique Pay Zone Name.
Choose a Currency from the dropdown menu.
Click Save.
Note: The selected currency will define the currency used for all Pay Bands tied to Job Locations within that Pay Zone.
Once saved, the Pay Zone will appear at the top of the page. You can now assign Job Locations to it. You must create at least one Pay Zone to map employees in Workleap Compensation.
Assign job locations to a Pay Zone
Job Locations are imported from your HRIS and represent where employees are based (e.g., office or remote). Each Job Location:
Can only be assigned to one Pay Zone.
Can be labelled as either Office or Remote.
Can include an optional Description for added context.
To assign a Job Location:
Scroll to the Job Locations table on the Pay Zones page.
Use the Job Location Type dropdown to select Office or Remote.
Use the Assign Pay Zone dropdown to select the appropriate Pay Zone.
Caution: Any unassigned Job Locations will trigger a warning, showing the number of employees who will not be visible in Workleap Compensation until assignment is complete.
Use Pay Zone multipliers (link to a primary Pay Zone)
You can create a Pay Zone that mirrors another Pay Zone’s Pay Bands, with an added multiplier to reflect a premium or discount.
To create a linked Pay Zone:
Click Add New.
Enter a Pay Zone Name and select a Currency.
Check the Link to a Primary Pay Zone.
Select an existing Pay Zone as the Primary Pay Zone.
Add a Pay Zone Multiplier to apply a percentage increase or decrease relative to the primary.
The new Pay Zone will:
Copy all Pay Bands from the Primary Pay Zone.
Adjust values by the multiplier (e.g.,
0.80applies a 20% discount).Convert values based on currency exchange rates, if different.
