Activity checklist

Onboarding

Updated over a week ago

The checklist feature in activities allows you to provide a rich experience beyond a simple block of text directions. In checklist items, you can add resources, clips, and links so that an assignee has everything they need to complete a task in one convenient place.

In this article, we’re going to take a deep dive into checklists and everything they can do.

What does this article cover?

Checklists

Add checklists

On the right of an activity, there’s an option to Add a checklist. Click the button to add a new checklist to your activity.

Customize checklist titles

By default, checklists are listed as “Checklist” on an activity. You can customize the title by clicking on it and typing a new one.

This can be helpful if there are different phases to an activity that should be separated to make their order clear. For example, maybe a new employee needs to have their company login and credentials ready before the steps to send them instructional videos on how to use the company software.

Organize checklists

If you have multiple checklists in your activity, you can reorganize their order. Hover over the list you want to move and click the grid to the left of the checklist title. Then, drag and drop the list to where you want it.

Delete checklists

If you no longer need a checklist, click the three dots next to it. Select Delete, and the entire list will be removed from your activity.

Checklist items

Add a new checklist item

When you’re ready to add a new checklist item to your activity, you can click outside the field or hit Enter on your keyboard.

You can also click on New Item underneath a checklist to add an additional item.

Checklist items are important because they allow you to add resources and clips to an activity. Resources are any type of file that you may want to share with an assignee, such as uploading an image file or a link to a slideshow in Google Drive.

When you click to add a resource, you’ll see any files you’ve already uploaded to your resource library as well as a space to enter a link to a file. To better understand resources, see our article Understanding resources.

In addition to files you already have, Workleap Onboarding lets you record and add a clip, which is a short video or audio recording, directly to a checklist. All you have to do is click the camera icon. If you want a step-by-step guide on clips, see our articles on Recording clips and Requesting clips from teammates.

Edit checklist items

You can update checklist items at any time. Simply click a checklist item, and you will be able to edit the text, resources, and clips.

Organize checklist items

If you have multiple items in your checklist, you can reorganize their order. Hover over the item you want to move and click the grid that appears to the left of the check box. Drag and drop the item to where you want it in the checklist.

Delete checklist items

To delete a checklist item, hover over it and click the trash can icon to the right. The item will be permanently removed from your checklist.
