Workleap Performance goals help you set, track, and align objectives across your organization. Goals are flexible and easy to update, allowing you to keep progress visible and teams focused.

Goals are the backbone of Workleap Performance. They power reviews, feedback, conversations, and AI insights.

Use goals to:

  • Create and structure goals at the personal, team, or organizational level, using your organization's framework (OKR, SMART, etc.).

  • Track progress with roll-ups, weights, and progress states (On Track, At Risk, or Off Track).

    • Owners can add comments and review the full goal history.

  • Get started fast with Workleap AI-powered goal suggestions based on role, history, and team focus.

  • Stay on track with goal reminder notifications.

  • Gain visibility through progress and adoption reports that help Executives and managers measure alignment and gauge progress.

Create a goal

To create a goal:

  1. Log in to Workleap Performance and select Goals > My goals from the side menu.

  2. Select New goal, and choose one of the following:

    • New from scratch: Start with an empty form and enter details manually.

    • Suggest goals: Let Workleap Performance generate suggested goals based on your organization's data.

      • You can still edit all goal details before creating a goal.

Workleap AI insight: Workleap AI-powered goal suggestions help you create clear, aligned, and measurable goals. Based on your role, responsibilities, and existing goals, the Workleap AI suggests 3–5 achievable goals that support growth and organizational success.

Set up a goal

Define your goal

  • Add a goal name, description, start and end date.

    • You can choose to align the goal as a sub-goal of an existing goal, if desired.

Choose who’s involved

Set a goal owner, define who contributes, and select a visibility setting.

  • Goals can be personal (a single contributor), team or group (one or more teams or segments of contributors), or organization-wide.

  • You can limit visibility to the owner and contributors or make the goal visible to the whole organization.

Note: The goal owner’s Direct Manager and Executives always have access.

Measure your progress

Define how to track progress toward your goal.

Choose from:

  • Simple progress: Track progress from 0% to 100%.

  • Multiple measurements: Track progress with several measurements combined into one result.

    • Add several goal metrics or acceptance criteria.

    • Choose from percent, numeric, currency, or yes/no measurements.

      • Add a link to related projects to track progress (optional).

    • Set a weight % for each goal measurement.

      • The total weight of all goal measurements must equal 100%.

      • All measurements and sub-goals are weighted equally unless otherwise defined.

  • Sub-goals: Track progress based on the progress of its sub-goals.

    • You can toggle on the option to automatically update the goal based on the progress of its sub-goals, if desired (optional).

Publish a goal

  • Select Publish goal to launch your goal.

Update goal progress

You can update a goal’s progress at any time after publishing.

To do so:

  1. In Workleap Performance, select Goals > My goals.

  2. Locate the desired goal and select Update.

  3. Update the goal's progress measurements as desired.

  4. Add a comment to describe the update (e.g., progress made, blockers, next steps).

  5. You can add a status state to the goal, if desired (i.e., On track, At risk, or Off track).

  6. Select Save progress.

Each update is logged and reflected in the goal's interactive Progress history graphic, so you can review changes and comments over time.

Close a goal

When a goal's progress reaches 100% and you want to mark it as complete, select Close goal from the goal's details page or via the three-dots menu on the My goals page. You can still view closed goals by searching or filtering for them on the Explore goals page.

Delete a goal

You can delete a goal at any time by selecting the trashcan icon on the goal's details page or on the My goals page. Once deleted, all a goal's data and progress are permanently deleted.

Notifications

Goal owners receive weekly email notifications when a goal meets specific conditions. Contributors do not receive these notifications.

When are reminders sent?

Reminder notifications are sent once per week, on Fridays, and only if one or more goals meet the following conditions:

  • Goal requires progress update: The goal has not been updated in the past 28 days.

  • Overdue goals: The goal’s end date has passed.

Additional details

  • Each user receives at most one notification per week, regardless of the number of goals that meet the conditions.

  • A goal can continue to trigger notifications weekly until an update is made or the goal is closed.
