Note: You must have administrator rights in both Workleap and Microsoft Teams to complete this setup.
Use Workleap AI directly inside Microsoft Teams! Install the Workleap AI Teams app to get instant answers and support without switching tools.
During Workleap AI's early access period, the Workleap AI for Teams app will require installation via a custom upload.
1. Authenticate with Teams
Head over to Workleap AI Settings > Knowledge Sources.
Click the Connect to app button and select Microsoft Teams.
Click the Connect to Microsoft Teams button and log in with your MS365 account.
2. Content settings
During early access, Workleap AI can be added to Teams, but won't have access to Message or Chat content. For this reason, there are currently no settings available on the Content Settings step of the Teams setup.
Click the Begin initial sync button to activate the connection.
3. Add Workleap AI to Your Organization’s App Catalog
Download the Workleap AI for Teams app .zip file.
Go to the Microsoft Teams Admin Center.
Navigate to Apps > Manage your Apps.
Upload the Workleap AI App:
Click “Upload an app” and choose "Upload a custom app"
Select the zip file you downloaded in step 1.
When the upload is finished, click the "Add" button.
⚠️ Note: It can take some time for the app to appear in the Admin Center. The Teams app (desktop) may not update immediately. The web app usually reflects changes faster.
⚠️ Important: The zip file must be uploaded in the Admin Center, not via the Teams app on your computer.
4. Automatically install Workleap AI for all Teams users
Go to Apps > Setup Policies.
Create or Edit a Policy:
You can create a new policy or edit an existing one.
Every tenant will have a “Global (Org-wide default)” policy by default. Edit this policy if you want to install Workleap AI for all Teams users.
For more control over which Teams users will have Workleap AI installed, create a new policy.
Under Installed Apps, add Workleap AI.
Under Pinned Apps, add Workleap AI to ensure it appears in the sidebar for users.
Apply the Policy:
Assign the policy to all users (or a specific group, if you created a custom Policy).
This will auto-install Workleap AI for them.
⚠️ Note: It can take up to 24 hours for the policy to apply across your organization.
Manual Installation (Optional)
If users do not see the app immediately after you apply your policy, it can be added manually:
Open Microsoft Teams (we recommend using the web client for quicker updates).
Go to Apps > Built for your org.
Search for Workleap AI and click Install.
